avoiding it becomes too much
In retrospect many founders who experienced significant stress, burnout, or other mental challenges could identify the early signs and their source. However, they often ignored these signals or convinced themselves it was “part of the journey” Resulting in counter productive effects. Maintaining resilience requires recognizing these signals, taking action, and prioritizing your mental well-being.
At Resilience inc. we are firm believers there are tools you can employ to keep yourself grounded even when things get tough with the right tools and support. Investing in yourself is ultimately an investment in the lasting success and growth of your journey.
“Running a start-up is like chewing glass and staring into the abyss. After a while, you stop staring, but the glass chewing never ends” – Elon Musk
We have talked to many founders experiencing; tiredness, Experience restlessness, difficulties sleeping and very low energy, Frequently doubting about company, role, decisions, Lost motivation and excitement, Lost in workload, can’t set priorities, offload work, or felt they had much more coming at them than they could handle. Feel like they were giving much more than they were getting and they felt relatively ‘alone’ in their situation. Weren’t the leader/manager or partner at home that they wanted to be and did not recognize themselves anymore. This is exactly why we developped the tools to help you in the first seven areas of resilience. Inevitably stress does get high, don’t worry we have all been through this. Take a moment to think about the following questions:
- Do you experience restlesness, tiredness, diffitulty sleeping, for a extended period of time (weeks or months)?
- Do you know the cause, or when this started?
- Do you feel you are still in control of your workload and stress levels?
- Do you have the support ecosystem to talk about these things and personally challenges, with people who understand, if you want to? And do you?
Very importanly, don’t keep all the weight of your company on your shoulders. Discuss with fellow founders or reach out to a person you trust.
