Your mindset is trainable. That is the key. Many thought patterns are reflexes rooted in old fears or bad experiences. By pointing your attention at what is possible, you can teach your brain to work with you.
It takes effort and you can start today with simple techniques. Wouter de Bruijne calls it plainly. Controlling your mindset is a superpower for any founder.
Check in with yourself
- Do you speak about your company, your team and your progress in positive terms?
- Do you write down lessons learned and reflections on a regular basis?
- How well do you handle feedback and criticism?
- Do you manage to turn setbacks into openings?
- Do you celebrate progress and encourage learning?
- When was the last compliment you gave, and what was it for?
Acting on your mindset
- Build reflection into your routine. Ten minutes at the end of the week is enough to start.
- Notice the negative thoughts and limiting beliefs as they come up, and write down what triggered them.
- Bring it into a Founder Circle. Mirroring with peers is the fastest way to see your own patterns.
